Facebook is allowing businesses to make temporary hours updates and service changes on their pages in response to the current COVID-19 crisis. The changes available range from temporarily closed to pick up only. Along with these updates, businesses can pin updates to the top of their timeline to communicate messages to customers. The new information will show up on the business page, in page previews, in search results, and on Facebook generated lists. This tool is especially helpful to restaurants who can mark on their page that they do deliver, and they are still open for delivery. Facebook has generated lists within the events section that allow people to search for any places that are currently open for delivery or other specified adjustments. With social media being one of the top areas for customer communication while everyone is staying at home, tools like this help relay up to date information to consumers without putting anyone at risk. As Marketing Land states, Facebook lists over 150 million different businesses, 60% of which are small businesses and Facebook’s traffic has jumped with people trying to find information regarding closures during this time. Facebook has also committed to $100 million in grants and as credits to small businesses to help stay afloat in this slow period.
